I took a long time to think about what I was doing with this web site. I realized I wanted to capture an experience…
I remember as a child shopping with my Mother – Pappagallo, Best, Martins, A&S – and loving the detail…the right shoe matching the right bag and always the gloves. I was thrilled to be an accessory as well – I always got to match Mom – after all, I also dangled off her wrist! Slowly, the times changed and my single Mom didn’t always get to pull it together and even my care somehow became less coordinated but always the bags… I learned to love them and make them last. I became and expert at caring and cleaning and storage. I was thrilled that designer bags warranted such attention from those slightly materialistic but well-groomed children now able to purchase as adults – and with each purchase I truly remember the time and thought (and the lunches!) shopping once represented. My friends and I even traded bags and we lovingly bought them from each other. After all, with bags, one size fits all! This is the intimacy and appreciation represented in this web site. These are my bags. I am letting them go to good owners – I can’t just “get rid” of a bag – it has to have continuity. I want them to pull it together for someone who appreciates the feel, the smell, the quality. I hope it is you!
